Parker Colorado History
The sleepy little cow town of Parker, Colorado was incorporated as a city in 1981 and included the Rowley Downs subdivision, the downtown area, and Parker Square and Parker Plaza commercial areas. The incorporated area encompassed approximately one square mile and included 285 residents. Soon after incorporation in 1981, the Town adopted zoning and subdivision ordinances. According to the town history there are over 40,000 current residents.
Development has blossomed to the point that the city slowed growth to allow infrastructure to get ahead. Once again in full swing, there are affordable starter homes and private gated estates, golf course communities, ranchettes, patio homes and condominiums, luxury homes and planned communities. Parker still retains its classic downtown while growing over the last 25 years into a major suburban bedroom community serving the workers in Denver and the Tech Center. Homes can range in price from the modest $150s to well over $2,000,000 for the larger horse property. All of Parker is included in the Denver Colorado multiple listing service, and generally homes are easy to see.
